Unlike barges with spinning suction cutter heads and augers that can change the original bottom or damage the liner in clay or fabric ponds, OSR Systems' patent suction head has no spinning parts. Their suction head is pushed through the sediments by divers directing the suction head. The great advantage to this is:
  • The divers know by feel, where the sediments begin and end, and where the clay or lined bottom begins.
  • Spinning heads and augers can disturb bottom sediments before they are removed, causing massive sediment plumes in the surrounding water column. OSR Systems' suction head removes the sediments on contact, avoiding unnecessary release of sediments in the water column.
  • Barges are set at a certain depth. OSR Systems' divers can easily follow the bottom contour, removing all the sediments in deeper pockets missed by a fixed depth-suction head position.
